Hello everyone, today I will introduce an anime to you, Violet Evergarden, which is also the name of its heroine. Also the one in the background picture. Besides, Bilibili provides a way for watching.

You may wonder what makes this anime different from others, or what urges you to watch it. My answer is its tears dripping and delicate engraving. Each of them can be divided into two aspects, Story, Theme, Character engraving, and Drawing.

Let’s go down to the story. The main content of the anime is that heroine Violet was picked up on a battlefield, and no one in the army was willing to cast any emotion on her and thus brought her up as a pure war weapon, except the Major(少佐). In the last battle, when dying, Major revealed his mind and said his last words “I love you” to Violet. When peace embraced everyone, Violet Evergarden became a letter writer only to figure out the meaning of what Major said. As you can see, it is quite a simple story, there is neither dramatic conflict between characters nor eye-catching settings, and everything happens precisely as the stream of time flows down. But it features the moment people take off their inner defense and express their true feeling, which overwhelmed me most.

What about the theme? The process of understanding the meaning of love is identical to the growth of Violet. In the beginning, Violet made no sense of the dialog: “You keep getting on fire because of what you have done - referring to Violet’s killing during the war - and you burn yourself without knowing it.” After Violet conveyed their misses to people, the meaning of this sentence became vivid leaving tears rolling down her face. The whole anime consists of many unit plays, each of which stands for the love between brother and sister, parents and child, couples, and most importantly, between the living and the dead.

In terms of delicate engraving, the most attractive is the character engraving. I bet that such delicate and vivid portray can barely be seen in other anime, and even approach the literature level. Multiple roles appeared in the anime, though designed to render the plot to develop and motivate Violet to think and grow, all of them possess a clear motivation hence didn’t annoy me and be thought to be cliche(陈词滥调). If you are sensitive enough, you can deduce the mental activities from their behaviors. There is no need to mention the delicate engraving in the characters’ inner activities.

As for the drawing, I would call it artwork! There is no need and even no room for improvement in the drawing. This anime was broadcasted four years ago, but it still has no rival in drawing by now. Here are some pictures for illustration.

You can glance over these pictures, but I want to show her growth in understanding human emotion through her expressions.

What about my comment? I got to say that it is of top quality! It is worth everyone’s watching. Assuming that you find it boring while watching, it is you rather than the anime that is to blame. Having enlarged your reading amount, you are bound to find pleasure and peace, and move in it. I dare to share it with you for the sake of its inner properties. In essence, it isn’t a Japanese anime, it isn’t created to tease home-staying-lazy, therefore you will not feel uncomfortable watching it. I come to this conclusion because it is poetic meanwhile realistic. Everything that happened in this story can be awarded off in real life, but the producer further gathered them up, polished them light, and created anime over, resulting in its overall atmosphere - light under the heavy background. Having watched it for years, it still left me with a long-lasting move.
