about

Who am I?

Innovation, independence and diligence are my personal symbols. I almost invested all my effort in high school to get enrolled in School of Earth and Space Sciences of USTC. Not only I have mastered much basics (such as mathematical, physics and chemistry) and specialized knowledge (such as Regional Tectonics of China, Geology, Principles and Application of Seismology), but also improved the ability of self-study a lot. Deeply Shocked by the damage brought by Wenchuan earthquake,I have been determined to devote my effort to earth science.

Though many courses shall be taken in my university, I have been sparing much time for some research projects since my sophomore year. I am participating in a research project named “First-principles calculation of Ca,Mg isotopic fractionation of carbonate minerals and silicate minerals”, supported by National University Student Innovation Programs from Ministry of Education and directed by Prof. Zhongqing Wu, which may be applied for geochemical changes. I also study the first-principle calculation of mineral elastic constants, applied for the implication of seismological observation and the structure and physical properties of the earth's interior. With the enthusiasm of seismology, I will carry on some researches in seismology directed by Prof. Huajian Yao.

I applied and acquired summer student fellowship in Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI) in this summer and obtained the opportunity to do some scientific research directed by Prof. Weifu Guo as a summer student in WHOI. My project is about Equilibrium Partition of Mg between Calcite and Seawater: Constraints from First-Principle Calculation and Implications for foraminiferal Mg/Ca Thermometer.

Research Experience

Isotopic Fractionation
(07/2013~now)

First-principles calculation of Ca,Mg isotopic fractionation of carbonate minerals and silicate minerals

The project aims to obtain Ca,Mg isotopic fractionation of carbonate minerals and silicate minerals to implicit differenct material sources in the mantle using First-principle calulation.Quantum Espresso is an open-source software based on Density Functional Theory(DFT).The group directed by Prof. Zhongqing Wu has obtained some exciting results.

Mg Partition between Calcite and seawater
(06/2014~now)

Equilibrium Partition of Mg between Calcite and Seawater: Constraints from First-Principle Calculation and Implications for foraminiferal Mg/Ca Thermometer

Mg/Ca ratios in foraminiferal calcite is used for reconstructing past changes in seawater temperature. The relation between Mg/Ca and temperature in foraminiferal calicite is exponential. However, the Magnitude of Mg/Ca ratio in inorganic calcite is about ten times higher than the ratios in foraminiferal calcite while the sensitivity is about 4 times lower than in foraminiferal calcite. We are digging out the therotical Mg partition between calcite and seawater, directed by Prof. Weifu Guo.

Course Project
(02/2014~06/2014)

Extral Work in some specialized courses

Regional Tectonics of China, Principles and Application of Seismology,Geophysical Foundation Experiment,The Gravity and the Tide of the Earth and Theory and Application of Geomagnetism and Geoelectricity are included.

Experimental Physics Research
(09/2013~12/2013)

The Identification of Different varieties of Tea with XRF technology

I and my teammates identified eight different varieties of Tea successfully with XRF technology, which could activate different spectrums. The tea includes Pu'er tea, green tea,Jasmine tea, black tea,Herbal tea and Tieh-Kuan-Yin

Research Interest(present):

First-principle calculation, including isotopic fractionation, mineral elasticity and elemental distribution;spatio-temporal evolution of seismicity.

event

Since enrolled in USTC,I have taken part in some interships or field trips, obtaining much practical experience.I also spared much time as volunteer, working out and helping others.Adventurous extracurricular activities are as important as course studies and academic researches.
